Lake
Manyara - At the base of the Rift Valley wall, this National
Park sustains a wealth of wildlife, nourished by the water which
falls over the cliffs above. Acacia woodland shelters the parks
famous but elusive tree climbing lions. Hot springs can be found
in the south of the park, and hippo wallow near the lakes borders.
The park is host to some 400 varieties of bird including cormorants,
pelicans and thousands of flamingo.

Serengeti,
Tanzania - This National Park covers an area of some 15,000
sq. km (9,000 sq. miles), and is Tanzania's most famous national
park. During the famous annual wildebeast migration, more than 1
million wildebeest, 200,000 zebra and 300,000 gazelle gather together
to undertake the long trek to the new grazing lands. The sunburnt
savana of the Serengeti is transformed when the rains come, into
an endless green carpet flecked with wild flowers.
The
park covers 14,763 sq km of endless rolling plains (see map), which
reach up to the Kenyan border and extends almost to Lake Victoria.
The park is teaming with stunning wildlife - it is thought that
over 3 million large mammals roam the plains. In May or early June
you can witness the annual migration of millions of zebra and wildebeest
in search of water and forage as the seasons change.
Ngorongoro
Crater - Land of the Masai: The park is located between the
Serengeti and Lake Manyara. It is home to the famous volcanic Ngorongoro
crater which is the largest unbroken caldera in the world. The crater
(610 metres deep and 260 km squared) is a microcosm of East African
scenery and game and is usually visited on the way back from the
Serengeti to Arusha. Scenic grandeur and stunning views are the
hallmark of this wonder of the world. All the lodges are built high
on the crater rim and afford amazing views over and into the crater
- the perfect setting for a well deserved sundowner.

Mount
Kilimanjaro - Located at the north/eastern tip of Tanzania.
For the adventurous, a climb of Mount Kilimanjaro is a must taking
you through the mists of equatorial jungle to reach the snows and
breath-taking views from the summit.
The upward track winds through forests that vary constantly with
the altitude and finally opens out into open moorland below rocky,
snow covered Kibo plateau. It has 3 volcanic centres, Shira, Kibo,
and Mawenzi. Seven & eight day climbs are easily arranged from
Moshi , and is the perfect start to your trip in Tanzania.
Masai
Mara National Reserve covers 1670 sq km, at between 1500 and
2100m above sea level. It's an extension of Tanzania's great Serengeti
National Park and it is probably the most famous reserve in Kenya.
The landscape is gently rolling grassland with the Mara river running
from north to south through the park and then turns westwards to
Lake Victoria. The Masai Mara offers breathtaking views, an extraordinary
density of animals including the "Big Five", and many
varieties of plains game.
The
Masai Tribespeople of the Mara plains still cling to their traditional
way of life to a great extent and it is possible to visit their
villages or even to go on a walking safari with them. The Masai
Mara and adjoining Loita plains form the northernmost part of the
Serengeti-Mara ecosystem. The wildebeest population is now about
1.3 million. Together with the associated herds of 200,000 zebra
and half a million Thomsons gazelle they form a vast assemblage
of ungulates whose annual movement through the ecosystem is known
as the great migration . The sight of hundreds of thousands of these
animals moving together through the seas of grass must rank as one
of the greatest wildlife spectacles on earth. The wildebeest herds
congregate and stream en masse through the longer grass plains and
onto the western corridor. As their food supply diminishes, the
herds move into the northern Serengeti woodlands and the Masai Mara.
The
first wildebeest usually arrive in the Mara in June or July and
most remain there until late October. Apart from the seasonal migration,
game viewing is excellent year round. Wildlife includes: elephant,
black rhino, buffalo, plains zebra, hartebeest and the big cats;
the rivers are home to hippo and crocodiles. Bird life, Over 500
resident and migratory species of birds are listed for the Masai
Mara, a fascinating and diverse array ranging from the enormous
ostrich to tiny, colorful sunbirds.
Lake Nakuru
National Park is just outside Nakuru town in central Kenya and
is famous for the excellent birdlife. It is about 220 sq km in size,
and dominated by Lake Nakuru which is fringed by swamps and surrounded
by dry savannah. The upper areas are forested and the park has been
declared a black rhino sanctuary. Although the most popular reason
for visiting is the wonderful sight of hundreds of thousands of
flamingos coloring the lake pink. Wildlife in the park is also prolific:
Hippos, Rothschilds giraffe, black and white rhinos, buffalo, black
& white colobus monkey, leopard, hyena and lion are all seen
on regular basis. There are more than 450 other species of birds
in the park aside of the flamingo.
