TURKS & CAICOS AGGRESSOR
The 100-foot
Turks & Caicos Aggressor offers two exciting itineraries.
February through March, guests have the rare opportunity to snorkel
face-to-face with migrating humpbacks whales in the Silver Banks
near the Dominican Republic. This marine park is one of the few
places in the world where humans are permitted to enter the water
with the whales. You may swim side-by-side with a 30-ton humpback
and her calf. You may witness bulls showing off and competing
for females or see a mother lift her calf to the surface for its
first breath. It is one of the most spectacular events in the
world and the experienced crew of the Turks & Caicos Aggressor
will put you in the heart of the action!
Guests board
"launches" or inflatables from the spacious dive platform
of the mother ship and set off in search of the whales. Once the
whales are located, everyone gently slips into the water to snorkel
with these magnificent creatures. Scuba and rebreathers are not
allowed in the marine park. Whale charters are Saturday to Saturday
with five days of whale "runs." These thrilling charters
depart from Grand Turk or Puerto Plata, Dominican Republic.
The Turks &
Caicos Aggressor's second itinerary features awesome wall dives
off Providenciales, West Caicos and, weather permitting, French
Caye. Sheer walls, which begin at about 40 feet, are beautifully
adorned with huge, crimson gorgonians, lilac rope sponges and enormous,
orange elephant ear sponges. Nurse sharks, eagle rays, eels, scorpion
fish and queen angel fish will greet you at dive sites such as The
Anchor, Shark Hotel and G-Spot.
You may want
to capture some of Turks & Caicos's underwater splendor on film
with one of the on-board rental cameras. There is a full line of
rental camera equipment and dive gear available throughout the week,
as well as certification and specialty courses. With the on-board
E-6 photo lab, divers may view their slides just hours after they
were shot.
Six luxurious,
air-conditioned staterooms are located on the lower level. Each
carpeted stateroom features a vanity with lavatory, hair dryer and
a TV/VCR. Five cabins have double and single berths and a private
head and shower. The sixth cabin, known as the "quad,"
has four single berths with a private head and shower located right
outside the door. A port window in each stateroom provides great
views and plenty of natural light. These well-appointed staterooms
are just steps away from the salon and dive deck.
Upstairs is
the air-conditioned salon, an attractively furnished room designed
for comfort and relaxation. It includes an entertainment center
with TV, VCR and stereo with compact disc player. A slide projector,
screen and light tables make slide viewing easy. The salon's comfortable
seating arrangement and presentation equipment make it a great room
for lectures and meetings.
Meals are served
from the buffet counter in the salon. Breakfast and dinner are eaten
here; lunch is often "al fresco" on the sun deck. The
salon also features a personal computer station with computer, color
monitor, printer and scanner. Guests may send e-mails to their friends
back home via the satellite phone system.
